Museum and cultural center “House of the merchant G. V. Tetushinov” was opened on 10 September 2010. It became platform for the revival of ancient traditions and associated with a unique artistic and spiritual culture of the Astrakhan region. Located in the merchant building resembling an old Russian Palace. This is the only preserved sample of wooden architecture of the XIX century in the Lower Volga region. On the ground floor of the House are exhibition halls for temporary exhibitions of decorative-applied art, paintings, exhibits from private collections. On the second floor is a permanent historical exhibition, reflecting the life of a merchant of Astrakhan second half of the 19th century.
The House events focused on folk culture. The programs:
“Rainbow” – family program for kids and parents on the joint study of folk traditions, using Proverbs
“Volga palette” – a concert venue in the courtyard of a merchant’s house with participation of creative collectives
“City of masters” – master classes in making traditional Souvenirs and items of applied and decorative art
“Solstice”, which focused on the organization of thematic sessions on national tradition holidays.

THE PROCESS OF CREATING A CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL CENTER
The exposition in this Astrakhan museum is interactive. Tourists are met not by the usual guides, but by the former owners of the house dressed according to the canons of the XIX century.
